IMAGINE......
that your brain is like a Symphony!
Some of the instruments have low pitch ranges, some have high. Think of pitches as frequencies.
Sometimes the volume is loud and sometimes it is soft. Think of volume as amplitude.
So, musical sounds vary by frequency and amplitude……just like Brainwaves!
Brainwave frequency ranges have names:
Beta waves are fast and we need them to focus. Think of the brilliance of a violin.
Alpha waves are slower and we need them to feel relaxed and comfortable.
Think of the steady viola, more relaxed than the busy violin.
Theta waves are slower still and help us daydream; we travel through them on our way to sleep.
Think of a cello playing a gentle lullaby.
And Delta waves, the slowest of all, bring us sleep. Like the basses of the Symphony, we need them,
just as we need sleep! But when we are awake and wanting to focus, too many of these slow waves can
make paying attention very difficult!
What we need is…..
Balance and the ability to change our tune to meet our goals. We need to be our own composer, write
our own music. This is the goal of NEUROFEEDBACK THERAPY.!
